On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink

Because at least one day of the week should be devoted to your happiness!

"I believe in pink.  I believe laughing is the best calorie burner.
I believe in kissing, kissing a lot.
 I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong.
I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.  I believe that tomorrow is another day.
And I believe in miracles."

Turquoise and Happiness!

There are so many things that I love about this collage. First of all. Kate Spade, you are a genius and I love your style. I need that clutch, #mylifeinanutshell. Also, "seize the day" was something my daddy always used to say growing up... Kind of touched a soft spot when I saw that.

Tory Burch, how does your color pallet NEVER cease to amaze me? There is nothing about that blue-green perfection that is anything less than divine.

Essie. You have the colors that match my heart. I will never have enough time or days to showcase all of your amazing color combinations.

And ladies, if you don't have a Camelback, you are seriously ripping yourself out of a healthy lifestyle. Mine basically never leaves my hand. They are perfect for making sure you get that daily amount of water - remember, water rejuvenates your skin and gives you that dazzling glow! So drink up!

Anyway, ta ta for now my darlings! Enjoy a day filled with laughter and beautiful things :)

Inspiration

Hey guys. Today I needed a little pick me up, and I thought maybe some of you might need the same thing. So here are some good words that always make me feel better when I'm down. If you aren't down... FABULOUS! Save them for a time when you do need them - or just enjoy it for what it is. Encouragement :)

ciao bellas

{Just do it my darlings}

{Lipstick and wine make everything better}

{I swear. I'm going to live by this}

{Dita speaks to me, especially because I'm a Georgia Peach}

{So good. I don't know why this hits me, but it does}

 {Time is going by whether you are doing you want it to or not. Do what you love. Be happy.}

{I don't have any tattoos... but I'm starting to think I want that one...}

{Finally. Spot on.}

Holiday Traveling!

Christmas Traveling Wardrobe Necessities

Dorothy Perkins pink sweater / Dorothy Perkins pink sweater / H&M skinny jeans, $48 / TOMS black booties / Black tote / Kate Spade jewelry / Marc by Marc Jacobs marc jacob / J.Crew j crew / Tim Gunn's Fashion Bible The Fascinating History of Everything in Your...

I'm sure all of us will be traveling during this holiday season. Some very important things to remember while traveling are 1) comfort and 2) cuteness! ;) Those Tom's are some of the cutest MOST comfortable things you will ever put on your perfectly manicured toes. Plus they give your outfit that little pop of heel that you need.

I always like to wear a watch while flying because I'm usually crossing time zones. This little beauty from Kate Spade is a great wardrobe staple goes with everything! Doesn't hurt that it's so darn cute.

Another thing that is a necessity while traveling is a comfy, warm, adorable, sweater. Both of these sweaters from Dorothy Perkins  are perfect for the job. They have that adorable little something extra that just makes you smile :)

Let's not forget all the bags us ladies need. That makeup bag? Yes, please?! How cute is it? Yes, I may or may not currently have an obsession with bows... And then you of course need a bag for your Vogue, your new favorite book, and all the other little do-dads to make your travel better.  :)

Safe travels my lovelies!

Black and Gold | Night Out

Black and Gold Night on the Town

Blaque Label sheath cocktail dress / Dorothy Perkins / Kate Spade handcrafted jewelry / Dorothy Perkins gold bracelet / Kate Spade / Banana Republic / Smashbox lip makeup / Essie nail polish

There is just something about a black (sparkly) dress, stud pumps, and gold accents that makes a girl happy. I think the earrings say it all, "Ta da!" This is the kind of outfit that you wear and all eyes are on you when you walk into the room. You're even a dazzling fashionista when you pull out your phone! Who could resist this? Then you have that little pop of red on your lips and fingers that just brings it all together.

Wear this ensemble to a black tie event, a night out on the town, or your upcoming Christmas Party! Be sure to let us know how your outfit came together!

Sandy

Wow. Some disaster this woman has created! (Why does every hurricane have to be a woman?!) Thankfully all of my family and friends have made it trough safely, although some are out of power/their homes. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those who weren't so lucky.

Sandy did affect me a little. In the sense that I was unable to complete my cleanse! (Which wasn't a bad thing since I was absolutely miserable!) we had bought our juices while in New York over the weekend and then our next shipment was supposed to one to the house, unfortunately because of sandy it never made it. :-/

I don't know why the cleanse was so much harder this time! Maybe my resolve just disappeared or something? I don't know what it was. Probably has something to do with the dreary, awful weather that is going on. I swear I have seasonal depression. Haha.

Anyway, hope you are all well!

Cleanse - Day 1

Hey guys. Man it's been a long time. Whoops! Well life has gotten just a little busier than it was when I started this. I'm loving it, but I literally don't have a spare minute.

This morning the kids got school off because of the Hurricane. Even though we aren't in it's direct path there are still anticipated power outages and high winds. Better safe than sorry.

Anyway, we're doing the Cooler Cleanse again! It's day one and I find myself sitting her drinking a delicious concoction of sweet greens. (This is one of my favorite's of the juices) It is a compilation of kale, spinach, parsley, watercress, and apple. Delish! And I'm not just saying that - it really is good. I can't remember at the moment but I think that we have 6 drinks a day? Basically one every two-three hours.

It isn't one of those 'starve-yourself-till-you-loose-an-unhealthy-amount-of-weight" kind of cleanses because you really aren't starving yourself. You get about 1200 calories a day (in all the good things) if you drink every one of the servings. I usually skip out of on the 'milk' (which is usually brazilian nut or almond milk) and it is the one that has a lot of calories - intended to tide you over for the night. But that's just because I don't really like the taste. Haha. The only adjustment is getting used to not chewing your food. Which believe it or not, is really really hard.

So there you go. There is my lowdown on my cooler cleanse. It's great - I would highly recommend it. If you live in New York or another big city they probably sell the juices at your corner deli. If not head on over to the website and order your own! It's a little pricey but I think that helps to motivate you to stick to it. If you're feeling like a cleanse - try it! :)

I'm Back!

Oh my goodness! It has been so long since I've written! I have had zero time lately.

Two weeks ago I got a new job, a new city, and lost my man. Well, I didn't actually lose him, he just moved far away and it makes me very sad. So all the time that I do find in my harried schedule is devoted to talking to him - and that's usually only for about 30 minutes.

Anyway, such is life. I'm going to try to get back into writing more often now that I have sorta got a handle on my schedule.

UPDATE: I'm doing a cleanse. As we speak.

I'm on day two of the cleanse and so far today is better than yesterday. It is a juice cleanse and most of the drinks are DELICIOUS! (surprisingly)

I'll tell you all about it later but now, I have to get back to work.

Much love mi bellas!

A lost friend.

Well it's not quite as dramatic as the title makes it sound but it is terrible. Last week my computer that I've had for almost six years died. :(

It was the most terrible thing ever. I was in the middle of a project and then, just gone.

I found myself thinking, "I didn't even get to say goodbye!" As silly as that sounds, it's true! That computer got me through college and to where I am today! I didn't have any warning or anything, just suddenly, nothing.

Oh well, it served me well. But needless to say, that is the reason I haven't written in forever - still working on a fix to this problem. Haha.

Ciao beauties! More posts coming soon! I have tons I want to write about =)

A Sammy Rue Story

If you hadn't noticed already, I really adore my puppy. I think she's just about the cutest thing anyone ever did see. In fact, as I type she is jumping up on my legs and walking over the keyboard with her tennis ball in her mouth trying to get me to play with her.

Lest you think I am a neglectful mother, let me give a caveat to the story I'm about to tell.

I had just gotten back from work and took the fiery little thing for a mile walk - she hadn't been home alone long at all because I went into work early and was out at noon. Anyway, along with the walk I threw the tennis ball around with her for about 15 minutes and I thought she was tired... I was wrong.

When we got back to the house she kept harrassing me (as she is still doing). It's hilarious to watch her carry around her tennis ball and jump over everthing trying to get you to play with her.

Eventually she gave up on me and went to the stairs. She walks up the stairs with her tennis ball, drops it at the top, and nudges it until it rolls all the way down the stairs - then she chases it down and repeats the whole thing. I was in the bedroom but heard her making a ruckus and came out to watch her. It was one of the cutest, smartest, most entertaining things I've ever seen a dog do. Haha.

Anyway, I thought you might enjoy that little puppy tale ;) I think she's finally gotten all of her energy out and is ready for a nap. Phew! :)

My 'Skinny Girl Rules'

Hey Guys! So today I was thinking, "What is it that makes a healthy lifestyle? And what do I do that I can share with my readers?" Here are the things I came up with. I genuinely think incorporating these kinds of habits into your life will improve your mental and physical state. I hope you can try these things out and that they help you on your path towards finding and maintaining the best possible you :) So...

1. Drink a cup of water every hour
{If you can't do that then make sure
 you drink a glass before every meal.
If you aren't drinking enough then you will be
hungrier throughout the day
- so drink up!}

2. One day each week go vegetarian
      {Meat is high in fat and cholesterol
but also in protein.
Protein is something you need to
keep your energy level up}

3. Eat a real breakfast
      {So many people think that its okay to skip breakfast
 and that it may actually help you lose weight...
 WRONG!
Eating a good breakfast will kick start your metabolism
 and get your brain in gear for the day.
 Skipping breakfast also makes you much more prone to craving something you really shouldn't be eating, i.e. sweets}

4. Eat at HOME!
{Not only does eating at home save you money,
it reduces the amounts of trans fat and salt you eat,
it promotes a more balanced meal than you would get in a drive through, and it helps your mental state.
Sitting down to a meal you just cooked can be refreshing
and gives your brain some time to catch up with your day.
Set a goal to eat at least 10 meals
a week at home}

5. Eat your fruits and veggies
{When you sit down to eat your plate should be
half veggies,
and the other half split between protein and carbs.
Make a delicious salad or steam some vegetables!
Eat an apple or pack a bag of strawberries
for a snack during the day}

6. Don't drink your calories
{This includes your gatorade,
if you didn't work out for more than 60 minutes
 you are putting back into your body
 everything you just worked out. Gatorade is GREAT for endurance events, or workouts that were vigorous and you lost a lot of fluid from, but NOT great if you did a 30 minute run.
Drink some water and eat some fruit or nuts instead}

7. Have a splurge day
{You can eat everything you want
- just not at the same time.
Figure out what you want most and have that,
save your other cravings for next week}

8. Real hunger vs. Fake Hunger
{Make sure you aren't eating out of emotion.
I know one of the biggest problems for me is
when I'm working on a project I like
munching on something.
NOT GOOD.
So figure out the difference between real hunger,
and fake (or emotional) hunger}

9. Go to bed
{not to be all sciency BUT,
when you get 8 hours of sleep your body
produces a hormone called leptin
this hormone is what regulates your appetite.
It makes you feel full and satisfied after every meal.
So instead of watching that extra episode of Grey's Anatomy ;)
turn it off and give your body what it needs...
sleep}

9. It's not about the number
{We all stress about what that number is on the scale.
Don't.
Focus more on how you feel,
your view of yourself and your attitude towards your body}

10. Be active
{An active lifestyle equals a healthy one.
You don't have to go to the gym every single day,
you don't have to kill yourself running 10 miles.
All you need to do is get up and move!
- Take a long walk on the weekend
- Walk to the grocery store and carry your items home
Find what works for you to get you up and
remember:
You're lapping everyone still sitting on the couch.
